Roz Bassford
I’m Roz and I’ve had an unhealthy interest in bonfire since the dawn of time! Also a member of the Cliffe Bonfire Society, my first 5th November in Lewes as a child was notable for my refusal to come out of the procession ranks and go home despite dreadful weather. I’m proud to see subsequent generations of my family enthusiastically keep up the bonfire tradition.

In my years of involvement with bonfire I’ve willingly done most jobs including Captain of Programmes, communications officer and aerial fireworks. I was also a Bonfire Council representative during an era when the authorities hoped that our celebrations could be controlled and tidied up. They were politely reminded that we wun’t going to be druv, and we weren’t!
I’m honoured to be on the CPBS committee and I hope I can bring my experience and enthusiasm to this quite wonderful society. In the short time since it was founded it has made its mark on the bonfire and village community for all the best reasons. Alongside bonfire I’m a press and editorial photographer who is privileged to capture the glorious inexplicability of bonfire throughout the season. I’m also a graphic designer and scriptwriter. |
