As a regular visitor to East Hoathly & Lewes Bonfire nights throughout the course of my life, I have always enjoyed the epic and unique celebrations that come with November 5th down here in Sussex. But I always wondered why Chiddingly didn’t have its own place in these celebrations… Until two years ago when I was asked to be the first President of the Chiddingly Parish Bonfire Society!
I absolutely love the idea of having a Village Bonfire Society and was thrilled to read about the developments being put in place by the experienced and enthusiastic CPBS team. Last year was the first official Parish Bonfire since 1912 and this year we will once again be gathered together under the November night sky, marching as a community of families and friends, through the village illuminated by our very own blazing bonfire and watching as the heavens are lit up by magnificent fireworks, representing our own special part of Sussex. As President, I’m looking forward to the feeling of magic and spirit of togetherness bonfire night brings! |
